Thank you for coming to my page. I am fundraising for the Run, Walk, Roll for Brain Injury organized by the Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania because it is a cause that is near and dear to me. Many years ago, I had a traumatic brain injury myself. In my experience, I was lucky enough to return to a normal life and I will forever feel blessed by that. However, there are so many others that do not have that same outcome and their lives are changed forever.
Experiencing a brain injury is an extremely scary thing to go through and it is often a very emotional and confusing journey for those recovering and for their caregivers and families. Many people do not even know where to begin. That is why I have gotten involved with BIAPA. They provide survivors with extensive resources and real one-on-one help, advocate on a state and federal level for better policies regarding brain injury, and fund important research. The thing that touched me most was finding out about the work they do with Camp Cranium. Camp Cranium provides an amazing and empowering camp experience for children at a completely handicap accessible recreational facility. The children are matched 1:1 with a counselor for a week long theme full of fun and activities. Kids get to experience climbing a rock wall, going down a zip line, swimming in the pool, participating in a dance night, roasting marshmallows by the fire while singing camp songs, fishing in the pond, and paddling in the boats. All activities are a daptable to all abilities.
Providing young brain injury survivors with rewarding and fun activities along with others facing the same difficult challenges is instrumental in the healing process and gives the children a sense of normalcy in a very challenging, confusing and often complex life as a child living with a brain injury.
Your donation will help these kids just be kids again. It will provide them with lifelong memories. It will give them independence. It will show them that they are not alone in their journey.
Thank you in advance for your generosity. You are truly making a difference.
Held on Saturday, April 13, 2019, the Run, Walk, Roll for Brain Injury supports the Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania and Camp Cranium and their work to prevent brain injuries and to improve the quality of life for people who have experienced brain injury. Held in Tyler State Park in Richboro, PA, it's a 5K scenic timed course, and for those who don't run, a healthy 1-mile walk or wheelchair roll.
