BIAPA is pleased to welcome Good Shepherd Rehabilitation, Center Valley as an Ambassador Outreach partner!

Through this partnership, trained volunteer ambassadors—each with lived experience of brain injury—will offer personalized support to individuals with brain injury and their families at this facility. Ambassadors connect with families through a one-time phone call, offering a message of hope, and providing an overview of helpful resources. Following the call, families receive a packet of educational materials and support information to guide them through the recovery journey.

We are hoping to work with all inpatient rehabilitation facilities across the Commonwealth, and we welcome inquiries about Brain Injury Ambassador Outreach! For more information, contact BIAPA Programs Coordinator Meghan Walsh-Farrell at walsh-farrell@biapa.org

BIAPA at the Highmark Walk Pittsburgh

Rain or Shine, We Walk Together!

A mighty group of 10 braved the rain to support BIAPA at this year’s Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community in Pittsburgh, joining 69 other inspiring organizations in a shared mission to create lasting impact. Despite the weather, spirits were high as our team connected with attendees, answered questions, and shared BIAPA’s mission. The walk, part of Highmark’s Bright Blue Futures initiative, supports nonprofits working to improve access to care, enhance quality of life, and build stronger communities. Thanks to Highmark underwriting all event costs, 100% of the funds raised go directly to nonprofits like ours.

John Savelloni Golf Clinic Recap

We had another fantastic day on the links! Despite some questionable weather early on, the rain cleared and left us with perfect playing conditions. We were thrilled to welcome our largest—and most energized—group of attendees and volunteers yet.

Everyone had the opportunity to learn, socialize, and enjoy themselves out on the range and the putting green.

Penn Oaks, as always, proved to be the perfect host. Thank you to the Event Sponsors—Oliver HVAC, ReMed, and NJM Insurance Group—for their continued support this year. The three partners who sponsored the event, the Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania (BIAPA), the Fighting Back Scholarship Program, and PGA Reach Philadelphia, were on hand to help ensure that everyone could participate.

Thank you for the generous support of Golf Tec, Mary Leahy of Callaway Golf, and Wawa. Thanks to them, everyone, including the amazing volunteers, left with some fantastic golf giveaways!

Brain Injury Focus Groups

We’re grateful to everyone who participated in the recent focus group series, facilitated in partnership between the Brain Injury Association of PA and the PA Department of Health. These in-person meetings with individuals with brain injury were very productive, offering valuable insights into the real-life challenges they face and potential solutions.

Facilitators identified common themes in the feedback that will help shape and strengthen brain injury supports and services moving forward.

Thank you to all who shared their voices and experiences—you’re helping build a better future for the brain injury community in Pennsylvania. ðŸ’™
